Birkbeck, University of London is set to provide a range of degree programmes with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), supported by AEMG Education, in a new partnership approved by China’s Ministry of Education.

The partnership will see the two universities work together to deliver joint undergraduate, taught Master’s and PhD opportunities in business analytics, data science, computer science, information systems and law.

Teaching and research will be split between the UK and China and the supervision of doctorates shared across the two universities, building on the relationship that has already begun to develop. The partnership will provide opportunities for collaborative research and staff development, as well as for students.

The first students will begin studies in China in September this year, with cohorts expected to begin transferring to London within two years.

The partnership is one of just 11 Transnational Education partnerships approved by China’s Ministry of Education in the UK this year and 113 worldwide. This follows three years in which very few such partnerships have been approved.

Professor Sally Wheeler, Vice-Chancellor of Birkbeck, University of London said:

“I am delighted that the Chinese Ministry of Education has agreed a partnership between Birkbeck, University of London and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics supported by AEMG education to develop and deliver a range of taught and research degree programmes.

“NUAA has an excellent reputation and standing in China and both they and Birkbeck have extensive experience of international collaborations over many years.

“We look forward to welcoming the first NUAA students to Birkbeck within the next few years.”
