Finance Research Seminar at Birkbeck (Professor Josef Zechner, Chair of the European Finance Association)

As part of the Accounting and Finance seminar series, we are pleased to invite you to an in-person research seminar on Thursday, 22 May, at 12 pm. The seminar will feature Professor Josef Zechner, Senior Professor of Finance and Investments at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), and Chair of the European Finance Association.

The seminar will take place at Birkbeck Central, Room 311 (BCB311).

Presentation Topic:
"Political Preference and Financial Market Equilibrium"
(Joint work with Youchang Wu)

The seminar will begin with Professor Zechner’s presentation, followed by a general Q&A session, which will cover not only the research topic but also broader questions related to publishing and academic career advice. The event will conclude at 1:30 pm.

Brief Bio:
Professor Josef Zechner is a distinguished scholar whose research covers a wide range of topics in corporate finance, banking, and asset management. He has published extensively in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Political Economy, and Review of Financial Studies.

He is the Chair and past President of the European Finance Association (EFA), the German Finance Association (DGF), and the Western Finance Association (WFA). Professor Zechner also serves as Vice President of the Society for Financial Studies (SFS) and is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
